01 about
Lisa Blair is a scholar, writer, and educator whose work examines intimacy and love within contemporary social contexts. She holds a Ph.D. in Transformative Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies, an M.A. in Process Work (Process-Oriented Psychology) from the Process Work Institute, and a B.A. in Sociology–Anthropology from Middlebury College. She is a Certified Process Work Diplomate, the Process Work Institute’s highest level of clinical certification.
Her doctoral dissertation introduced a reconceptualization of intimacy through an integrative transdisciplinary lens informed by postnormal times theory, examining how global complexity, chaos, contradictions, and uncertainty have shaped romantic partnerships over the past two decades.
Her research interests include the sociocultural and relational implications of artificial intelligence for intimacy and the intimacy economy; digitally mediated intimacy through smartphones, social media, and dating apps; sex and love robots; generational shifts in intimacy-related norms and practices; sex and pornography in adolescence and emerging adulthood; and the impact of STARA on human connection in the workplace.
Her work has been published in World Futures, the Journal of Consciousness Studies, and the award-winning International Handbook of Love (Second Edition). She teaches and consults internationally on emotional intimacy and conflict resolution for couples.
Dr. Blair and her partner David Bedrick (founder of the Santa Fe Institute for Shame-Based Studies and author of The Unshaming Way) co-host IN TWO DEEP, a podcast about emotional intimacy, conflict, and connection from a depth psychological perspective.
